Regina E. Sweeney

Regina E. Sweeney, 72 of Wilmington passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family.

Regina was born in Germany, the daughter of the late Augustyna (Herbec) and Walter Hryckewycz.  She graduated from Wilmington High School and retired from Wilmington Trust Company after 20 years as a reconciliation clerk.  Regina was a member of St. Elizabeth Church, the BVM Sodality and Oak Grove Senior Center.  Her hobbies included scrapbooking, country line dancing, trips to Delaware Park and spoiling her beloved grandchildren.  Regina was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah A. Sweeney.

Regina will be missed by her husband of 52 years, Joseph M. Sweeney; her daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Brian Myers; her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jacqueline and Andrew; her sister and brother-in-law, Monya and Martin Willey of Wilmington; her brothers, Thomas Hryckewycz and his wife, Joanne of Newark and Walter Hryckewycz of Media, PA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Sweeney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Clayton and Cedar Streets on Thursday at 11 AM.  Friends may call at the church after 10 AM.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
