Nancy Bowen

Nancy was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Mabel (Simmons) and Calvin Burton. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and worked for over 33 years as a computer technician for the DuPont Company and CSC. An avid animal person, Nancy rescued 1 feline and 5 dogs.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 42 ½ years, George W. Bowen, III; her siblings and their spouses, Harold Burton (Ethel) of New Castle, Ernest Burton, Ruby Washington, Carl Burton, Suesan Nichols (Wayne) and May Mazzola (Philip) all of Wilmington, Paula Booker of SanTee, CA and Andrew Burton of Bear, DE and numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will take place at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, DE 19711. Online condolences may be sent to Mealeyfuneralhomes.com

With My deepest condolences George. I only met Nancy maybe half a dozen times but she always had a smile on her and a kind word to say, and with some of the stories George has told I knew her enough to say she had a kind and gentle heart and a strong enough hand to fight what was ahead of her, and keep George in line.
