She was a graduate of Bucknell University and served as a deacon at Red Clay Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid bridge player. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Dampman, her daughter, Nancy Lumley and her husband, Walter S, Lumley, Jr. in 2000.

Michael Joseph Brown Age 39, passed away suddenly in Newark on Friday, March 27, 2015. Born in Wilmington, Michael was the son of Joseph H. and Christine A. (Koper) Brown. Michael attended St. John the Beloved School and Dickinson High School where he played basketball. For 10 years, he worked for DNREC as a landscaper in the Parks and Recreation Department. He enjoyed boxing and watching football, hockey and boxing.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics at University of Delaware and a Master’s Degree in Education at Columbia University, and taught in Special Education for many years in Montgomery County.

Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Joanne had touched in some small way throughout her very memorable life. Helen “Betty” Bender, 97 passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Regal Heights, her residence for the past month. She resided in Westgate Farms for 50 years. Betty was born August 3, 1917 in Middle Branch, OH to the late Adam and Anna Hare. She married the love of her life, Richard G. Bender on April 12, 1940. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and watching all birds and wildlife in her yard.
Age 46 of Newark passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Matt was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Leona (Ward) and John J. Hedden, Jr. He was a graduate of Howard High School and a self-employed electrician, owning Matthew Hedden and Son Electric. He was a member of the Boys Club and the New Castle County Irish Society. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed playing and listening to music.
