Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Viola (Wells) and William Kessler. Melvin worked as a truck driver and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, country music, John Wayne and Texas Ranger movies.

Thomas Edward Joseph Kelly, age 85, of Saint Georges passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 23, 2019. He was born in Clifton Heights, NY and graduated from the Christian Brothers Academy. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he had a distinguished career. Thomas retired from the Marine Corps as a Major in 1979 after 28 years of service.
William R. Barto, age 83, of Hockessin, DE passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 23rd. Born in Endicott, NY, he was the son of the late Trilby (Brown) and Walter M. Barto. William graduated from Drexel University and was a self-employed financial planner for over 25 years. In addition to financial planning, he also worked as a real estate agent in New Jersey.

Thomas J. Hayes, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Brackenville Center on April 22, 2019. Born in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Katherine (West) and Thomas J. Hayes, Sr. Tom graduated from Delaware Technical Community College with his associate’s degree. He worked as a corporate pilot for Atlantic Aviation and several other companies.
Dolores L. Kaiser, age 86, of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully at Jennersville Hospital, West Grove, PA, Saturday, April 20, 2019. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Patricia Ann “Patty” Gregg, age 75, of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Thursday, April 18, 2019 surrounded by her family. Patty was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved God and her Church and was a beautiful angel here on Earth. Patty had a heart of gold and she was dedicated to her family and friends who will miss her greatly. After emigrating to the United States in 1969, Gloria received her LPN and worked at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Elkton.
Gene F. Jordin, 85, of Mt. Cuba and Bethany Beach, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. The only son of Raymond and Sarah (Fredrick) Jordin, Gene was a graduate of A. I. DuPont High School. Gene lived his entire life out of the family home in Mt. Cuba.
Nancy Wilson Fox Speckman, 90, passed away April 11, 2019 in West Chester, PA. Family was at her bedside. The former resident of Sparks, MD, died of natural causes. Nancy was born in Framingham, MA. Her parents, Ella Pineo Wilson and Donald B. Wilson as well as her siblings, Shirley and Stanley predeceased her. After West Borough H.S., Nancy graduated from Syracuse Univ.
Jody Bell left us on April 17, 2019 after a full life of 95 years. She was one of seven children born in Alcoa, Tennessee to Joel and Annie Rogers Cable, and is the last to survive. After growing up in Alcoa, a generous neighbor sponsored her to attend Snead Junior College in Alabama. She transferred to Vanderbilt University on scholarship after two years, where she became an R. N.
Ruth M. Keener, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2019. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Earl W. Burns, 92, of Newark and Rehoboth Beach, DE, peacefully passed away on April 10, 2019. He was born in Wilmington, DE, to the late Eva L. (Davis) and James Burns and grew up with his two brothers on Union Street in the row home that is now Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop. Earl resided in St. Louis, Missouri for many years. He attended St.
