Virginia G. LeVan

Virginia LeVan, age 85, passed away on July 30, 2017.

Jinny was a graduate of Wilmington High School, and started working at Delmarva, Power and Light Company, where she met the love of her life, Van.  Jinny then focused her energy on raising her three children and then helping to raise her seven grandchildren.  Jinny was a Boy Scout Den Leader, a Girl Scout Leader, and Home Room Mom and chaired the Ladies Auxiliary for Little League Baseball.  Jinny was a regular attendee at her children’s sporting events and then at her grandchildren’s sporting events.

In later years, Jinny loved spending summers in Dewey Beach and took great joy in seeing all of the yearly visitors at the Elinor Apartments.  Delaware Park has lost a loyal customer.  Above all, Jinny loved spending time with her family and her friends, and recently her favorite grand dog, Norman. Jinny’s happiest moments were when her entire family was together.

Jinny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Van.  She missed him dearly, and we know that she is now happily reunited with him.  Jinny is survived by her children:  Phillip LeVan (Bonnie), Beth Peoples (John), and Rebecca Brockson (Andy), her grandchildren:  Ben Peoples (Michele), Eric Peoples, Kurtis LeVan, Corey LeVan, Kristie LeVan, Amanda Brockson and Andrew Brockson.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation time to honor Jinny’s memory on Thursday, August 3th between 4 and 6 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington.  Funeral services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA at or 600 South Street, New Castle, DE 19720.
