Ramona G. Jaeger

Mrs. Ramona Jaeger, age 86, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her four children on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Falls Church, VA.

Born and raised in Akron, OH to Jason and Miriam Rieger, she moved to New York City and met her soon-to-be husband Joseph Jaeger.  After wedding and beginning their family in New York City, they moved to Delaware for Joseph to continue his career with the DuPont company.

For the next 55 years, Ramona dedicated herself foremost to raising their four children, embracing all of life’s joys and challenges.  As a teacher, she touched the lives of so many young people over the years.  She praised God through music – leading the hymns in liturgical celebrations on piano, organ or guitar – and through service with her time and many talents.  She loved all pets and plants: all were made welcome in her home and garden, where every corner was invitingly arranged with artistic flare and beautiful taste.  She could bring to life any subject she imagined in any painting medium and she gave her paintings away as freely as she produced them.  Compassionate and big-spirited, forever gracious, Ramona received everyone with open arms and gave of herself without measure.  She truly lived by her most frequent admonitions to her children:  always be generous, always be kind.

Ramona is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Carrum, wife of George Carrum, M.D. and Lisa Jaeger; two sons, Gregory Jaeger, husband of the late Lynn Jaeger and CAPT. Michael Jaeger, JAG Corps, USN Retired, husband of Deana; her eight grandchildren, Theodore, Emily, Bernadette, Andrew, Timothy, Rachel, Brianna and Benjamin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington DE at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in the Chapel.

The family suggests memorial donations to St. Mark's High School, 2501 Pike Creek Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your loved one. Such beautiful sentiments expressed. She sounded like an amazing, sweet person who will truly be missed. While loss of a loved one brings much grief and is hard to endure, you don't have to go through it alone. Please know that others care and that God is close to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18. He has promised to bring death to nothing, 1 Corinthians 15:26. May the many cards, caring thoughts and prayers be a source of comfort.

My condolences to all whose life was touched by Mrs. Jaeger. She was always welcoming to everyone and so giving to all those who knew her. I will miss her greatly. May she rest in peace. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away, Revelation 21:4.
