Walt enlisted in the Navy during World War II and the couple lived in Key West, Florida. After two years there, they moved back to New York, where Pat took a job working for J.C.Penney (himself).  Pat then took a job working as the admin for a famous hat designer (Sally Rand). In 1950 she had her first child, Doug, in March followed by Rich in April, 1952. The family lived in Queens. In 1955, they moved on to Staten Island.

In 1956, Walt was relocated to the distant reaches of Delaware. The family moved to Wilmington where they lived for the next 25 years. Pat raised two boys and was very active in the Mill Creek Century Club and the Archmere Academy Mother's Guild. After the boys went to college, Pat took a position as the admin for the New Castle County Vocational School District where she worked for 15 years.

Walt retired in 1978 and passed away in 1990. Pat's second son Rich passed away in 2011. In retirement, Pat developed friendships with numerous ladies in a swimming group at the Wilmington YMCA. Many of them joined her in their seats along the third base line for the Wilmington Blue Rocks, a minor league baseball team. The group became intensely interested in baseball, an interest she later took to Virginia.

In 2003, Pat relocated to Reston, Virginia to be closer to son, Doug and his wife Joan. She moved into a house on Lake Anne in Reston, Va and continued to be very active in the Reston Newcomer's club until 2017. As Pat aged, Joan cared for her.
