Patricia Hable Whitaker

Mrs. Patricia Hable Whitaker, age 76, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2018.  She was predeceased by her beloved Husband, Thomas F. Whitaker in April 2004.

Patricia taught both 2nd grade general studies and special education during a 25 year tenure at the Jennie E. She carried her love of learning into her retirement years by attending classes on everything from art appreciation to world history at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware.  Patricia cherished annual vacations to Sea Isle City with her family, whom she adored, and spending time with her countless friends who were always charmed by her authenticity and love of life.  She also enjoyed travel, attending Broadway shows and was an avid sports fan who recently delighted in her Philadelphia Eagles finally winning a Super Bowl.  Her legacy and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched and she will be remembered by all who knew her with fondness and love.

She is survived by her son, Robert K. Hable and wife, Melissa of Wilmington, DE; daughter Sherry Limbers and husband, Jeff of Wilmington, DE; son Craig S. Hable and companion, Tina M. Martin of Newark, DE; and granddaughters Katherine Lynne and Julia Paige Hable.

Tony and I are so sorry to hear about Pat. We knew her from Christina School District and I was in many classes with her at Osher. She was so upbeat, funny, and friendly, and will be missed by many people. We are unable to attend the service, but I will be donating to Osher in her name.

I recently read about the loss of your dear loved one. Although we are not acquainted personally, please accept my condolences. Losing a dear loved one can leave a very empty space in one’s life. Please find strength, hope, and comfort in the God of Comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4).

Dear Whitaker Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Times like this can be very difficult to deal with. At times, you may feel like there is no one to turn to. You may even feel like no one understands your pain. But there is one person we can turn to that can help us through all of our trials. Yes, God can help you during this difficult time. Pray to him constantly and he will help you. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4 Isa. 26:19)
