H. Edward Slavin, Jr.

H. Edward Slavin, Jr., passed away peacefully at Season’s Hospice, Newark, DE on January 10, 2020 at the age of 80. A native Delawarean, he was born, lived and died in the greater Wilmington area. He was the son of the late Harold E. Slavin, Sr. and Mary E. (Gropp) and brother to the late Richard W. Slavin. A graduate of A.I DuPont High School and Wesley College, Edward was employed at J.P. Morgan Chase for over 15 years and owned and operated several businesses in Wilmington over the course of his life. He had a love of tropical fish and in his spare time, he would research and collect them.

Edward is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ada (DiUbaldo) Slavin; his daughter, Dina Gifford and her husband, Mike of Salem County, NJ; his granddaughters, Mia and Emily; and his sister-in-law, Diane Slavin.

Calling hours will be held on Friday January 17, 2020 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Seasons Hospice, who took exceptional care of Edward in his final days, at the
