Carol Elaine (Flick) Jennings

Carol Elaine (Flick) Jennings, 85, passed away on July 30, 2018 while under Hospice Care in Wilmington, DE.  Born at home in Weirton, WV on July 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Gladys (Brostman) and Rayburn Flick.

A Weir High Class of '51 graduate, Carol began her career in the Weirton Steel Bulletin Office. She attended night school at the then, College of Steubenville, earning her Bachelor's Degree in English.  She advanced to Secretary to the President of Weirton Steel and ultimately became a Human Resources Executive at National Steel before retiring.    

Carol was a beautiful woman with a lively sense of humor.  She enjoyed her family, her dogs, golf, bridge and music, especially the French horn.  She made lifelong friends wherever she lived and worked.

Carol is survived by her devoted daughter, Melissa Carol Stanhope and husband Thomas of Easton, MD; her sisters Norma Lynne Newbrough and husband Raymond of Saint Albans, WV and Jo Anne Lee of Wilmington, DE.  Also surviving are many step children, nieces and nephews.¬

Those preceding Carol in death are son, Scott Edward Udick, her husbands, James E. Udick, Forrest W. Standley and Burton K. Jennings, and sister Betty Rae Smith and husband Richard.    

A "Celebration of Life" Tea will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at noon at the Tidewater Inn in Easton, MD.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Franciscan University of Steubenville, or to a favorite charity.  Online condolences can be made to

So sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. Carol was a very good friend of my mother. They met in high school. My mom spoke very highly of Carol.... her kindness and her sense of humor.... and shared many memories of their “antics” through the years. Prayers to all.
