Velma Mae (Stainbrook) (Miller) Wise

Velma Mae (Stainbrook) (Miller) Wise died peacefully, Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Manor Care, Foulk Road, Wilmington, Delaware.

She leaves behind her sons, Michael (Pat), Marvin (Maryland) and Daniel (Kathy); her daughters, Patricia (Joe) Giorlando and Susan (Jim) Birney; her three stepdaughters; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and her husbands, Marvin Miller and Nelson Wise, Jr.

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she moved to California at 18, where she worked as a grocery checker for Vons Markets. After moving to Delaware, she worked for E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company as a clerk until she retired.

Velma enjoyed teaching her grandchildren at home during school breaks. She loved cooking and gardening, and teaching her daughters and stepdaughters to make baklava.

Mrs. Wise will be cremated, and the spreading of her ashes will be done at a private service.

Grief can be so hard and painful, but our special memories  can help us to cope. I'm sorry to hear about your loss and wanted to share the Bible's hope of a resurrection at a time when there is no more sickness, pain or death right here on earth according to Revelation 21:3,4
